30 Days of Fashion & Beauty Ambassador

We caught up the face of 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty, the ever-radiant Nikki Phillips, to find out more about her personal style, favourite shoppping desinations and plans for the future!

How would you describe your personal style? Very classic. I do love to play around with vintage pieces but keeping it very classic yet stylish is easy and is what looks best on me.

Where is your favourite city to shop and why? Overseas shopping is always exciting and New York and Singapore are up there for best shopping cities. But I have to admit that Sydney has a great shopping hub and I really enjoy supporting local designers.

What is your approach to beauty? Keep it simple. I am a strong believer in less is more.

Who has inspired you over the years, be it designer, friend or family? It's definitely been my family with their support and enthusiasm in everything I do makes me stronger and strive for more. I think if you have a great support system it inspires you to do well and make something of yourself.

What are the ups and down of being in the public eye? The benefit is people recognising you for your work, being able to wear the newest designs off the runways to events and of course the goodies that PR companies send you with amazing products for you to try. The lows would have to be the little things — stories getting twisted in the press and sometimes the invasion of privacy.

What has been your favourite red-carpet/party look? I don't have a favourite. I've been very lucky to have great support from designers. I've never been dressed in a disaster. I have loved all my outfits.

What is your stance on designers using only sample-size models? I would never starve or alter myself for a job. I think in the fashion industry it is a shame that sample size is "skinny". Things are changing a lot within the industry now regarding this and it is a good change.

What do you love about Australian fashion? I love the fact that we are up on par if not in front with the fashion overseas, and that every Australian is unique with their collections.

If you weren't working in fashion, what would you like to do? I would like to live on a farm and help by rescuing animals and just helping care for animals that have been mistreated or without homes.

What beauty products that you can't live without? Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, Benefit's Tinted Moisturizer with SPF and a good daily moisturiser.

Are you a shoes or bag girl? Tricky one. I am more of a shoe girl than a bag girl as I have two beautiful statement bags that go with everything and thousands of shoes. But I do love them both.

What are your tips for keeping your mane glossy? Heath Massi! He is my fabulous hairdresser and without him my hair would not look the way it does. With all that my hair has to go through, Heath manages to bring it back to life with treatments and simple cuts but I also swear by Sebastian shampoo and conditioner.

What five most treasured fashion possessions? My Prada handbag, Sergo boots, vintage Chanel belt, my mother's diamond ring and my nanna's knitted scarf.

What's your favourite celebrity style? I love Blake Lively and Kate Moss as they both have classic, elegant yet a touch of funk to their style. Whenever I flick through magazines their style always stands out.

Do you have any quick tips for going from drab to fab? Killer heels. Every outfit looks better with a heel and they give you more confidence to pull off an outfit.
