Priceline's Beauty Editor, internationally-renowned hair and makeup artist Annette McKenzie reveals what is her kit bag and the looks from her past that make her cringe !
Whose beauty style do you admire?
The look of effortless beauty. It doesn’t matter that it takes the same amount of time to look effortlessly beautiful as it does to look intentionally made up. Kate Moss is the queen of this 'I haven't tried very hard to look this amazing' look. Even when she is obviously made up and dressed up she looks like she just threw it together and sauntered out the door. So cool!!! A new comer to the effortlessly beautiful world is Daria Werbowy. Cool glam and chic.
Describe your skincare regime?
My skin care regime is very simple. I don't like fussy skincare products, with lots of steps, perfumes, colour or additives. Ego QV Facial Cleanser followed by Simple hydrating moisturiser. I have been considering an anti-aging serum, but haven't decided on one yet.
What is in your make-up bag?
My personal make up bag is also streamlined, but here are some of my favourites:
- Revlon Colorstay foundation (thinned with a dab of moisturiser)
- Manicare eyelash curler
- Maybelline Great Lash mascara in Black
- Revlon eyebrow pencil in Charcoal
- Max Factor Miracle Touch cream blush.
- I always have Vaseline Lip Balm handy, plus Nivea hand cream.
Where is your top shopping destination?
London is absolutely hands down the best place to shop. New York is a great city but I love to shop in London. It has everything, expensive fashion, vintage shops, cool cheap high street fashion like Topshop and H&M. It has great markets, fantastic furniture, design stores and the streets are full of character.
Beauty faux pas that horrifies you?
Fashion faux pas? Oh so many to choose from!
The worst was probably in the early 80's. I had a mullet!!! A big teased up pouffy 80's style mullet of a hair cut. At the time I thought of it as some other kind of hairstyle. What? I don't know. But there is no hiding the pictorial evidence. It was an ugly mullet. I can laugh now because it was so long ago.
